One of my (many) guilty pleasures is watching a few minutes of cooking competitions on reality TV channels. There's this one host, a beautiful woman, who captured my attention. Tall and exotic, very sensual, she seems the type of woman who goes after what she wants. I wondered what would happen if she fell for one of the contestants - and the contestant fell for her!

 

In Turn Up the Heat, the host became Gina, an Italian-American actress from LA. The contestant became Mackenzie, a chef from Wyoming who also owns a ranch. Two very different lifestyles. The story went wild from there. Missed opportunities, a surprise visit, a kinky weekend, and some difficult choices. But, it's a romance - I won't spoil the ending, but it's probably my favorite final scene of all my books.

With my new website theme in place, I've been using my blog a lot recently, and I hope to post even more often now that I've finally finished our taxes! (The downside of having been an accountant in my pre-writer life.)

To see more Easter Blog Hop sites, click here. To celebrate the season, I'm sharing my absolute favorite pastry recipe. My grandmother always made this for Easter breakfast. My mother took over the responsibility not too long ago, and now I'm carrying on the tradition. Of course, the family asks me to make it a few additional times during the year, too. I call it 'practice' and it's always turned out perfectly. The recipe may look difficult, but it is truly the easiest and most delicious pastry recipe I've ever made. Danish Puff 1/2 cup butter, softened 1 cup all purpose flour 2 tbsp water 1/2 cup butter 1 cup water 1 cup all purpose flour 1 tsp almond extract 3 eggs (cold) powdered sugar glaze (powdered sugar and a little milk) nuts (I prefer walnuts) Cut 1/2 cup softened butter into 1 cup flour, sprinkle 2 tbsp water over mixture and mix. Round into ball; divide in half. On ungreased cookie sheet, pat each half into thin strip 12x3 inches - should be 3 inches apart. Heat 1/2 cup butter and 1 cup water to rolling boil in medium saucepan. Remove from heat and quickly stir in almond extract and 1 cup flour. Stir vigorously over low heat until mixture forms a ball, about 1 minute. Over low heat, beat in eggs (all at once) until smooth and glossy. Divide in half, spread each half evenly over strips. Bake about 60 minutes at 350 degrees until topping is crisp and brown. Cool. Topping will shrink and fall during cooling, forming the custardy top of this puff. Frost with powdered sugar glaze and sprinkle with chopped nuts. Cut the short way, into strips. Enjoy!
